CradleSong ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our baby monitor sleep assistant app.
We designed CradleSong with privacy as a core principle. We do not record, store, or transmit audio recordings of your baby or household.
Information We Collect
Microphone Data
CradleSong uses your device's microphone to detect sound levels in real-time. Here's what you need to know:
- We monitor audio volume levels (measured in decibels) only
- We do NOT record or store any audio
- We do NOT transmit audio data to any server
- Audio processing happens entirely on your device
- Sound level data is used only to detect when your baby may need soothing
Music Preferences
When you connect Apple Music:
- We access your Apple Music library to display playlists and songs
- We store your selected sleep and soothe music preferences
- We do not access your Apple Music listening history
- Music playback is handled by Apple's MusicKit framework
App Settings & Session Data
We collect and store:
- Your volume threshold and sensitivity settings
- Sleep timer durations and fade settings
- Session summaries (start time, duration, number of soothe events)
- App preferences (selected playlists, playback modes)
Subscription Information
For premium subscriptions:
- Apple handles all payment processing through the App Store
- We receive confirmation of subscription status from Apple
- We do not have access to your payment details or Apple ID
How We Use Your Information
- To detect sound levels and trigger soothing music when needed
- To play your selected music at appropriate volumes
- To sync your preferences across your Apple devices via iCloud
- To provide session summaries so you can track sleep patterns
- To verify your subscription status
iCloud Sync
CradleSong uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your preferences and session data across your devices signed into the same iCloud account.
- Data is stored in your private iCloud container
- Only you can access this data
- We cannot access your iCloud data
- You can disable iCloud sync in your device settings
Synced data includes: app settings, music preferences, and session history. No audio data is ever synced.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With Apple, as required for App Store subscriptions and iCloud sync
- If required by law or valid legal process
- To protect the safety of users or the public
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- All data processing occurs on your device
- iCloud data is encrypted by Apple
- We do not operate external servers that store your data
- App data is protected by your device's security features
Children's Privacy
CradleSong is designed to help parents care for their babies. The app is intended for use by parents or guardians, not by children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The audio monitoring feature processes sound levels only and does not identify or record any individual, including children.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as follows:
- App settings: Stored locally until you delete the app
- Session history: Stored in iCloud until you delete it
- Audio data: Never stored - processed in real-time only
You can delete all app data by uninstalling CradleSong from your device and removing it from your iCloud storage.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data stored in the app and iCloud
- Delete your data by uninstalling the app
- Revoke microphone access at any time in device settings
- Revoke Apple Music access at any time in device settings
- Disable iCloud sync in device settings
California Residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know what personal information we collect
- Right to delete your personal information
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights
